Yesterday – Sunday June 7th marked the official opening of TJ’s Roost, our brand new garden space here at The Star, and what a fantastic day it was.
With friends, family, customers and plenty of familiar faces joining us throughout the afternoon, it was wonderful to finally open the doors and share the space we’ve been working on for so many months.
For those who don’t know the story behind the name, TJ’s Roost is named in memory of Lynn’s late brother, Tony Johnstone. For years, he talked about the potential of the old barn and what it could become. He always believed it should be something more than a storage space and, although he isn’t here to see it, we’re proud that his idea has finally become a reality.
What was once an underused storage barn in the garden has been transformed into a cosy and characterful space for private dining, family celebrations, buffets, small gatherings and those occasions when you simply fancy a quieter corner of the pub.

Of course, projects like this don’t happen on their own...
A huge thank you goes to Jamie, whose hard work, skill and patience helped bring the vision to life. Alongside family, friends and the wider Star team, countless hours have gone into creating a space that feels both new and familiar at the same time.
A huge thank you to Jason & Dawn Wallis – for their incredible hard work.
A huge thank you to Rob & Adam who aided Yvonne in all the finishing touches!
To help us celebrate the opening, Wayne Bridle joined us for an afternoon of sing-along favourites, laughter and plenty of good company. The atmosphere was exactly what we had hoped for and a perfect way to introduce TJ’s Roost to the village.

Most importantly, we’d like to thank everyone who came along, supported the project and continues to support The Star. Seeing people enjoying the space from the moment the doors opened made all the hard work worthwhile.
TJ’s Roost is now available for private hire, celebrations, family gatherings, buffets, private dining and special occasions.
We look forward to welcoming many more people through the door in the months and years ahead.
Good Food. Good Drink. Good Pub.
