Artist Dawn Wallis with Yvonne
What a day! Our Sign Reveal Party on Sunday was everything we hoped for and more – full of energy, music, laughter, and a true sense of community.
We kicked things off with a breakfast rush that had the pub absolutely rammed to the rafters – and it didn’t slow down from there. We went on to sell out of Sunday lunches, and the cold meats and salad buffet went down a treat with everyone who came through the door.
It was genuinely wonderful to welcome such a lively mix of locals and first-timers. The garden was buzzing, and the atmosphere inside was just as electric.
It’s not very often you go to a pub, hear live music and it includes a didgeridoo!
It was genuinely wonderful to welcome such a lively mix of locals and first-timers. The garden was buzzing, the atmosphere inside was just as electric – and honestly, it’s not every day you hear live music in a pub featuring a didgeridoo!
Crooked Style absolutely knocked our socks off – not just with their musical talent, but their brilliant energy and sheer entertainment factor. They were such good fun that we couldn’t let them go when their set ended. A big thank you to Jug, who rallied the crowd and raised a collection to keep the music going for another hour! As the Crooked Style frontman put it, “It’s unusual to get a pub like this nowadays.” That meant the world to us.
A special thanks also to the newly appointed Mayor of Tenterden, Andrew Holcombe, who kindly donated the hamper for our raffle in aid of Rockits Sensory. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we raised an amazing £180!
There was dancing, laughing, and a whole lot of community spirit—just how we like it. And when it came time for the big moment, the Sign Reveal itself was met with a warm round of applause. The brand-new sign was hung immediately, thanks to the ever-reliable Adam and Stuart, and it looks absolutely fantastic in its new home.
Our wonderful local artist Dawn Wallis, who hand-painted the sign, was on hand to reveal it alongside Yvonne. Dawn was thrilled to see it take pride of place above the door where it belongs.
All in all, it was one of those days that reminds us exactly why we do what we do. To see the pub full, the garden alive, and the community gathered together—well, we could not have asked for more.
From all of us here at The Star – thank you. Your support means the world.
Keep an eye out for more events coming up throughout the year – we can’t wait to welcome you back.
